Primary Health Care Family Physician

Part-Time Locum Position Available (three/four days per week)


South Riverdale Community Health Centre requires a Family Physician with strong clinical skills who will function as an effective member of our Health Services and Urban Health Teams. The Centre provides programs and services predominantly aimed at people who live in South East Toronto including people of Chinese heritage, people with substance use and/or mental health challenges, seniors, new immigrants/refugees and young parents. The CHC is core funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.

You will have an opportunity to work in an exciting practice with a team of dedicated health professionals who provide comprehensive primary health care and health promotion to clients of all ages, on and off-site, including home visits; shelter outreach and on-call services. This setting provides an opportunity to have a diverse style of practice working with a multi-disciplinary team of nurse practitioners, dietitians, social workers and social service workers, chiropodists, health promoters and community outreach workers.

Qualifications:

Current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

Degree in medicine from a recognized university

Thorough current primary health care physician knowledge and proficiency

Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of community-based health care and health promotion concepts.

An openness to working with people who are homeless, living with mental illness or addictions and/or complex health needs from a harm reduction perspective

Awareness of and sensitivity to the health issues of a diverse community and experience working with disenfranchised populations.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, decision making, conflict management, organizational and administrative skills that include computer literacy,

Ability to provide compassionate, respectful, non-judgmental and culturally competent care.

Fluency in a language relevant to the Riverdale Community, in addition to English is considered an asset.

Salary:
According to OMA/MOHLTC negotiated agreement for CHC salaried physicians effective April 1, 2010.

Hours:
35 Hours per week (Full time)
Part-time (Minimum 17.5 Hours)
